The passenger compartment held its shape well in this test. Pedal and steering wheel displacements were well controlled. Driver and passenger contact with the airbags was stable. Driver chest protection was acceptable. All doors remained closed during the crash. After the crash all doors could be opened with normal effort.

In the side impact test, protection of all critical body areas was good for both dummies, and maximum points were scored. This vehicle scored 30.98 out of 42 points. The Q5 has an 'active' bonnet’ fitted as standard. Good or adequate results were recorded in most areas tested however some marginal areas were recorded on the upper bonnet / windscreen and there were areas of poor protection on the bonnet leading edge. The Q5 is fitted with an AEB system capable of pedestrian detection. In tests of this functionality, the system performed well with impact being avoided in most test scenarios.
